BWT moves to Alpine F1 in long-term title partnership

Alpine F1 Team has announced the signing of a strategic, long-term title partnership with Austrian water treatment supplier BWT from the 2022 Formula 1 season.

Alpine will turn pink as it signs BWT as its new title partner, renaming its Formula 1 team to BWT Alpine F1 Team.

The length of the deal is described as long-term, with no financial details made available by either parties.

This announcement marks the return of pink in a Formula 1 livery as last year BWT took a step down, bringing spots of magenta to previous partners Aston Martin.

BWT is famous for getting major visual control over their associated sponsorships with its iconic pink, from football to skiing to motorsport.

The pink colour symbolises BWT’s mission to “Change the World, sip by sip”, which highlights the importance of reducing the unnecessary transport of water bottles and the reduction of plastic waste.

BWT’s move from Aston Martin was rumoured during the 2021 season, as the company was unsatisfied with having less prominence than previous years as the team switched to green.

Decalspotters understands BWT had looked at other options before the 2021 season, with Haas F1 and Williams Racing being named as contenders before returning back to Silverstone.

During the course of the year, Formula 1 would also announce the Austrian water treatment company as a partner of the sport, implementing the pink colour across the races around the world.

As part of the deal, Alpine F1 is expected to don BWT’s brand colours across all supports and open a Bottle Free Zone at its installations, akin to Racing Point and Mercedes-AMG’s GT program.

Additionally, Sebastian Vettel is expected to leave its ambassadorship with BWT after just one season partnered with the Austrian company.
