Racing Point is set to enter a new partnership with famous Swiss luxury watch and jewellery firm Chopard for the 2020 Formula 1 season, Decalspotters can reveal.
Chopard had returned to the global racing scene in 2014 after a 14 year absence when they signed as the Official Timing Partners of Porsche Motorsport, who were returning to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Priorly, Chopard were present in motorsports as main sponsors of the prestigious Mille Miglia race and official timekeeper of the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique.
The Swiss brand was left adrift when Porsche Motorsport announced a title partnership with rivals TAG-Heuer as the team joined the electric championship ABB FIA Formula E.
Chopard logos are to be presented on team apparel and driver overalls, and potentially driver gloves as well.
Earlier in the month, BWT Racing Point had announced that they were becoming Aston Martin’s works team from the 2021 Formula 1 season, bringing the British luxury carmaker to the pinnacle of motorsport as a manufacturer for the first time in its history.
Aston Martin Racing are currently sponsored by TAG-Heuer as part of their deal with Red Bull Racing, and Hackett London who are also current partners of BWT Racing Point. Given the circumstances, Chopard joins the squad in time for the new Formula 1 regulations and as Aston Martin make their debut as a manufacturer and linking the luxury brands.
